I am still having a problem with my Fox. Starts fine. Idles fine once warm. No power at all. I struggle to get up a small hill. I drove around my neighborhood to try it, still no good. I have to put it in first to get anywhere. I have eliminated the fuel delivery end of it. New fuel pump, filter, tank, transfer pump and accumulator. Most of that needed replacing anyway. It almost feels like the car is starving for air. I am thinking I have a problem with the vaccuum lines. I do have a vaccuum hose that was disconnected. This is where I need help. I will do my best to explain.
One end is connected to a valve mounted to the front of the fuel distributor, the other side of the valve has a metal tube with a nut connecting it. It is the side with the rubber/plastic hose I need help with The only place I could find was the back of the air box on the bottom. There was a connection missing there. I tried that, did not do much. Is this where it goes? If anyone has any advise on my lack of power, please advise. The car is not driveable in this condition.

Can't help you out with the vacuum line, mines a 92. So, aI go tot he old standbys. If it idles fine, clean the throttle body with some throttle body cleaner. Spray the whole can. Then I would have to look at the catalytic, might be blocked up partially.
Try this, and call in the morning.

Re: Help please, again (92foxrox)

I already cleaned the throttle body. You mentioned the Cat. I did not even think of that. When I bought the car, the O2 sensor was bad, for who knows how long. It also had a blown head gasket and a warped head beyond planing. Oil and antifreeze in the exhaust could poison the cat. A bad O2 sensor, if let go too long could do the same. Or just an out of tune motor running too rich would do the same. How do I tell if the cat is clogged without removing it from the car? What does everyone think?

You gotta pull it. Not bad, just break/cut the bolts. I wouldn't even try to loosen them, I did. 2 came loose, 2 broke, 2 I cut. If I would've cut, I would have been done alot earlier.

Re: Help please, again (92foxrox)

I pulled it off. One side had new hardware from a recent exhaust. I broke the other side. It is not the cat. I can clearly see light through it. Looks very clean. I am thinking of checking the coil when I get home. I am determined to find this problem.
Has anyone had any issues with coils? Why do I not have power. I am running out of things to check.

The only time I ever had a problem with a coil was when it would overheat, and made the car act like it was running out of gas, kinda kick and sputter then dies. Cranks right back up after a few minutes.
Have you pulled and inspected your sparkplugs? Pop the cap off your rotor and look for corrosion or burnt contacts. Look for bad spots in the wires. If you have removed all doubt that it is a problem in the fuel delivery, then I think all you have left is fire and air. Air filter beyond replacement time? Check and make sure there is no deterioration in the plastic around the mass air flow sensor. It is definately a good idea to get a few feet of vaccuum hose and replace them all if you can. If you do them one at a time, there's less confusion.

Cap and rotor are new. Spark plug wires look good, but I will replace them anyway. I will replace air filter as well. I do not think the air filter is the problem. It would have to be pretty clogged to cause this problem. I will start replacing all the vaccum lines as well.

take the rubber boot of the fuel dist and check the plate to make sure that it is not binding. you seem to have checked everything else, when you did the fuel line stuff did you check the tank pump to make sure it is working???

Oh, I thought you had changed them. OK. My bad.
And did the exhaust have the restricted donut, or the normal one?
Restricted looks kind of like a crueller, I think, some extra in the middle, and the nonrestricted looks like a regular old fashioned donut.
