HELP! Tan color came off my leather seat!

545 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  RyanBoyce
hey, I was about to clean my leather seats (tan) in my 2001 GTI, when i noticed that a good section of tan color on the left side bolster had rubbed off, it wasn't because of the cleaner (i was using eagle one and it works great) because I hadn't started cleaning yet. Can I fix this? If so what do I use to fix it and how do I protect the leather so that this doesn't happen in the future?
Thanks
John

I did find one place that sells colormatched dye specifically for recoloring leather if you cut them off a swatch of your leather and send it in. but the stuff is $75 for a pint, and thats the smallest amount that they sell.. is there anything else you would recommend? would it be cheaper to just have a detailing shop do it?

If your car is a '01 it should still be under full warranty..I'd take it back and make the dealer fix or replace it !

well.. the dealer i got the car from is a few hundred miles away, however I do have a local dealer (valley imports, fargo ND), but I can just see them saying that I took the finish off with the cleaner, which since I use eagle one (the same stuff VW uses) shouldn't happen, and didn't. so on the off chance that I can't get the dealer to fix it, then what do I do?

If its discolored then get it fixed. If just a little color is on the towel leave it be.
