HELP!!! TRANNY IS DEAD!!!!!!!

What a SH$%yyy night, well, i need everyones ideas, i have 16,000 miles on my car and i lost my tranny tonight, i have no first or fifth and when i put it in reverse, it makes a dropping noise and clunk. So.. what do i do??????? will VW warranty it? HELP!!!!!!!

whethr the warranty covers it depends on what happened to get the tranny that way. What exactly happened that led up to this happening?

well im a dumbass and accidentally shifted in too low of a gear at the speed i was going.. thats all im gonna say ... ugggghhhhhh

umm if you were in fifth and you were trying to downshift to third and hit first instead the redline limter wouldn't do jack because your engine and wheels are still physically connected so the car would have to slow down that far.
wear and tear is only 12k / 12months, and I'm not sure the power train warranty would honor this problem.
maybe it's time for a quaffie 6spd upgrade.

well from what i explained to vw, they think it is a linkage problem... so we will see, i wonder if it is warrantied?

well vw called me and told me that when i missed a gear, i messed up my fifth sycronized gear and messed up the shift linkage. So they are gonna tear down my tranny and either replace the whole thing or fix the problem(whatever is needed) and they told me it IS WARRANTIED!!!(WOOHOOOO) but a one time only. They said i should get it back Friday or Monday. just a little update

Be extra nice to those guys and pray that things like your chip don't change their tune.

Yeah, im gonna be as nice as possible.. im hoping they dont detect the chip too.. i wonder if they will find it. I mean they are doing tranny work, but im sure they have to do a diagnos.

You should swap the stock chip back in. They might get mad at the chip since most chip remove your rev limiter, or move it higher than the factory. It wouldn't be nice if they determine that the tranny broke because the chip let the engine rev to high! http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

This same thing happened to me,went from third to second expecting fourth...

I needed to replace the clutch and several gears. cost me like $1500...
my advice to you is to look at a quaife or other reputable aftermarket clutch as it will probably be cheaper and more durable..

If they find the chip or other performance (engine-wise) upgrades, they could deny your claim. I went in for tranny problems, they said they would fix it, then I called them 2 days later and they had done nothing but void every warranty on my car.

Glad they said they'd take care of it!!
As for the chip, I'd be worried but a regional rep has to be there before they can open your ECU to check for one.

Yea, hopefully that wont happen, but they called me after they looked at it and clearly if you open the hood, you can see the CAI, and i know they heard the TT exhaust so maybe they are being nice, or just ignored it, or being a good dealership and realizing that those things have nothing to do with the tranny or clutch.

WELL, THEY FIXED MY CAR......

They said that when they took the tranny apart, they found out that it wasnt the tranny and that i had a broken clutch plate(broken in 3 pieces!!)ugghhhh hmmm oh well, it was warrantied!!! YIPPEEEE i guess they didnt care about the aftermarkets
