Help with the ABS on my VR6

329 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  MeanGrnGLX
My ABS idiot light comes on after I get going. I let it be for a while since I figure that it needs servicing. However, everynow and then I can hear (and feel) the ABS kicking in and pumping the brakes when I am not braking. It is anoying! Not to mention that I think it caused my brakes to lock up and did a 180 going around a curve on a wet road. Has anyone run into a problem like this?

If I were you I would take it to the dealer and hope they fix it for you. My light has been on for awhile now and it turns out my abs pump is bad. What really sucks is it is out of warranty and the part is $1200

Re: Help with the ABS on my VR6 (flakybandit)

I just want to know if I can turn it off or unplug it until I can afford to change it.
Any suggestions?

My car is doing the exact same thing now. The light was on for like a week then it shut off one day but the abs decides to come on when it feels like it
any advice on how to fix this would definately be helpful to me too!!!

Re: Help with the ABS on my VR6 (GinstaVR6Chick)

my car is doing the exact same deal . .scanned it for codes, turns out the front left sensor is dead (the one that counts the notches on the ring) haha excuse the non-technical terms
$150 and a bunch of labor to change it and the ring because the hub has to come off . .i will probably attempt it myself in the spring when i upgrade my brakes.
