So I got a ticket tonite for doing 56 in a 35. The cop checked moderate traffic, out of 4 options (heavy, moderate, light, and none). There was not a car within 10 miles of me, yet he checked moderate, which is like average traffic. Is there any way to contend this, becuase it is me, a teenager, against a cop. Thanks

In Seattle, you have the option to subpoena the cop that wrote the ticket. If he doesn't show up then the ticket is dropped. However, if the cop does show up, you feel like a bit of a jerk, calling him in for questioning, unless you have a legitimate beef with what he got you for.

Well I have to go to court for it, so I can't send it in. The court date is Dec. 14th.
I just realized that he clocked me in a 45 mph zone, but he followed me for about 1 mile, and pulled me over in a 35 mph heavy residential. So now I have that to contend also.

Quick question. If you knew he clocked you and was following you why didn't you slow down especially when you hit the 35 zone?I just realized that he clocked me in a 45 mph zone, but he followed me for about 1 mile, and pulled me over in a 35 mph heavy residential. I definately agree with you that A it should be dropped or B you should be given a 65 in a 45 becaue that's where he hit you with the laser.

Wait so if you were going 36 when he pulled you over and you had been doing that for 1.5 mi and he said he clocked you in a 35 zone?I definately agree with you that A it should be dropped or B you should be given a 65 in a 45 becaue that's where he hit you with the laser.

any increase of points on my license makes my insurance increase 10% for 3 years --> for me thats a bucket and a half of doh (paying 3600 a year - 360*3=$1080 my lawyer costs me $250 and he gets the fines reduce)-i am better off paying for the lawyer than getting $$$ on insurance.
