Guys, I've intermittantly started seeing some troubling behavior -- from a stop when I press on the gas the car hesitates in first gear .. the RPMs surge up and down very quickly between 800 and 1200 but the car doesn't move much .. this with the gas depressed more than halfway! After letting go and trying again a few times (slow pumping) I can get up to the higher RPMs and higer gear and then its smooth sailing but at the next stop light it may be the same issue again (or may not).
I have a 99 1.8T with Tip with 148,000 miles. So what could it be: bad gas? Fuel injectors? fuel pump?
Any ideas?
