Hey all,
what are some options for setting up HID's on a MK4 Jetta? I know bosch makes an OEM kit i believe but i have a 2000 and i guess it runs off of a 9007 bulb that is dual filiment so if i did a 9007 conversion i would loose ability of using my high's, what can i do and where can i research this more? Thanks

the OEM bosch HIDs replace your entire headlight assembly. so no need to worry about 9007 bulbs and whatnot. xenon gas baby

trust me, go OEM HIDs or don't go at all. you will end up regretting it and maybe even spending more that originally planned.

I hear that some companies are making HID kits for the dual filament bulbs (H4, 9007) that reatin the high beams. Don't know who or when it will be available. With the HID kit you really don't need high beams anyway. But some people, like myself, don't wanna lose their high beams.
I would really opt for the OEM HID kit. $1800 ain't cheap, but it's a sweet setup.

FYI-
HID bulbs don't have fillaments... so there is no such thing as a dual fillament HID bulb. What you are referring to is this:
Some Porches utilize the same HID bulb for low and high beams... They do this by moving the optics that surround the bulb to adjust the angle of projection. The bulb remains unaffected, while the reflecting optics around the bulb adjust back and forth for low/high beam operation.
There are no aftermarket products that mimic this technology.
There is, however, a GB going on for OEM HIDs for $1200. If you're gonna get them, get them now.
