A stock 16v

A beautiful very low to the ground 1.8T powered 1st gen. One of the fastest cars on the hill.
Unfortunately it was just the two. Usually have a few more, including a Buick V6 Powered Quattro Scirocco that generally sets hill records.

It's so lame we don't have Tarmac hill climbs in Cali. We have some awesome roads for it too.
Nice pics, glad you had a great time.

There was a 4 page article about that mk1 rocco and the old man who drives it in Performance VW a few months back.
It was a carbed 2L16V at the time. Some very trick stuff throughout the car http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Seriously, 17. I was a blast in my taurus, I'm sure I'd be twice as fun in the Scirocco. Too bad we can't close the freeway to Santa Cruz though.

Here's my old page dedicated to the Hoopa Hillclimb. http://www.reninet.com/abcgates/Hoopa.htm It has been run every year since 1986, before that the redwood Sports Car Club presented the Lord Ellis Hillclimb from '67-'85 I personally chaired the Hoopa event 7 times, and founded and chaired the Grizzly Hillclimb in '92-'93 the RSCC is on the web at http://www.rscc.net with photos of this years hillclimb. look for Hoopa to run again the third weekend in September.

I dunno what you guys are smoking, but those front fenders look like ****e on a mk1. Ruins the lines of the car horribly. Keep that body kit crap on mk2s thanks...no need to ruin an already beautiful car.

no need unless it is allowing you to run some fat a$$ rims like on this particular example. im not one for body kits on a mk1 either but i must admit...a purpose built car like that looks damn spiffy with dem fat fenders.

HWY 17 is awesome, took my rabbit over it a few years back. Santa Cruz is cool too. The coast HWY is a fun drive too headed out towards half moon.
