Holden showed a convertible version of the Monaro/GTO recently - and while it will not make production in this model life, the next one due in 2007 reportedly will include a vert. Here are some pics and a link to an article. I think that it looks great - not the most modern design, but the Monaro is in the last half of its life, so its to be expected. The new one will be interesting. I like the shape of the roof - it seems very well intergrated.

body lines look a LOT like the Merc CLK drop top. Especially from the back in that 4th pic

That's one of the few cars that I think looks better as convertible than a coupe http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

So Holden takes it further with a convertible
I wonder why Ford hasn't come up with a 2-door Falcon yet, or do they think such a car would be unviable?

I'm really suprised Ford and GM haven't brought more Australian market cars to the US. There are so many sporty sedans here that I would think that american public would snap up over the standard Taurus/ whatever crap we get in the states. Helll, the Holden and Ford sport utes like the XR6 (i think?
) could probably spark a whole new niche for american automakers.

Weird, first thing it reminded me of was the previous bodystyle Chrysler Sebring. Maybe something about the grille.

You guys are killing me.. Saying it looks like other cars and not realizing that you only think that because they are convertibles. Cars with roofs chopped off are bound to look similar. What next? "TT RIP OFF"? Oh no, that only applies to cars with arched roofs! The SAAB comparison is the most stupid. The cars look nothing alike. The ONLY similarity is that they are convertibles.
This looks great.

Please - no one was accusing them of ripping off the Saab, we were saying that there is a slight resemblance. To me the way the side sweeps up to a high bootline, the relatively simple door skins with little in the way of character lines, etc (in the pics at least) and the way the headrests are semi-intergrated into the tonneau cover remind me of the Saab. I'm NOT trying to say that they knocked off the design.
I don't see the resemblance to the sebring as much, and i don't usually agree with people who say 'this looks like that - they ripped off whoever', but i don't see the reason to attack people for saying they see a similarity. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and you're entitled to ignore it.
