Hood scoop ideas...

While browsing an Antiques shop with the wife I noticed a section with car stuff in it. I gnored the 4 barrel holleys but saw a neat hood scoop. A very long NACA duct. Owner said it went on a Camaro of some sort. Since he was closing the shop he made me a hellacious deal and I took it home. It is actually the same color as my Cabby.
So it's too long to fit so I cut it on two pieces which makes two nifty hood scoops, one traditional and one large Naca duct. So tell me which looks better or are they both too ricey? (Keep in mind I have no real reason to have a hood scoop

)

Which ever one I don't use will be for sale.

It's strictly my opinion, but I think both of those look bad. I wouldn't do anything like that to my car.

I'd go with option number one and sell both of the scoops and use the money for something else. If the appearance of the scoops appeals to you then go for it.
I plan to put a small scoop on my hood just in front of my airbox intake. Then connecting the scoop to the intake...

I suspect that's exactly what I'll do. The scoops turned out to be much larger than I expected and they don't balance with the car's size very well.

Okay already! You'd think I had threatened to burn my cabby to protest global warming (global warming is a good thing it allows us to pu the top down more often). My hunch was that they were too gross to use and you 've confirmed that. I wonder if there's a dork out there that needs a scoop?

What kind of scoop is that, Cabby-blitz? Where did you get it?
Also Mol, I have to agree with the rest- if you care for one more opinion- the scoops are both too big, IMHO.

yours looks cool, is this a fab you did yourself or a kit, or a ??????
Molijnar, the first pic doenst look too bad, heck I wouldnt mind it, other than its not my color, and the scoop is a little big (wide)
yet I really like this one yer doin here in this pic.. do you have a finished picture??

I got my scoop from JCWhitney.com. Cut a whole in a spare hood I got and used some super epoxy glue on the top edge that sits on the bottom of the hood. Also used bondo to smooth it to the hood. But since then the paint has cracked around the corners.
It prolly will be for sale in the future because Im going to be looking to get a CF hood.

I'm still toying with the idea of having a Jimmy blower poking thru the hood. Of course it wouldn't be attached to anything...

if you need a project, find a hood at a yard
and go to work, that way if you hate it
you can go back in no time. I like the
idea of the first one, maybe move the scoop
