Re: Hooking up an iPod - what's the best way? (justin-T)
I have my iPod, and wll have my Passat in a few days. I've been trolling the boards for info on this since the iPod was announced last year, and the best alternative presented has indeed been the tape-deck adapter. I have the FM modulator thing in my Mazda, and it is so-so. The iRock just doesn't put out enough wattage to be good. Placement in the car has a BIG effect on sound quality.
I have a CD Changer control input adapter for the Kenwood after market stereo in my Toyota pickup, and it works great! It plugs in where the changer control cable would go, and lets you connect any auxiliary input.
I am getting the 6 disk changer in my GLS, but will unplug it in a heartbeat if someone (come on blitzsafe!) makes an adapter for the 2002 double din Monsoon deck
The iPod is fantastic, by the way. I've stopped using cd's, and run my iPod through noth cars, my home sereo and powered speakers at wrk. Next item to purchase is a power adapter for the car for roadtrips on the mainland! It is really hard to drive far enough on Oahu in a day to run the battery dry.
