as it says.. i might be getting one this week.. it has 2 probs that arent to big for me since i do all my work.. but i have no clue what the probs are so i can;t fix then..
prob 1 is the passanger door doesn;t open.. the owner said is a common passat prob so if anyone has had this prob what do i do to fix it..
prob 2 is the shifting he says when he lets the clutch out it makes a noise and he says it has a 5speed conversion so the pressure plate of flywheel might be loose..
can you guys help me out..
also what size pressure plate are on these 16v's..

The problem with the clutch will most likely turn out to be a destroyed - literally squashed - throwout bearing. Had the same exact problem with my corrado when I bought it. Plan on a clutch replacement.
As for the door not opening, It could just be a broken handle. Does it open from the inside?

i was told the door doesn;t open at all.. and it has to do with something inside.. he said it was a common b3 prob but he doesn't know how to fix it.. its nothing major to me but i would like to fix it so me and my girl can start going out in this instaed of racking up the miles on her neon so we can trade it in in about 2 months..

What kind of noise are we talking about here? Because my clutch makes like a squawking or honking sometimes when I let it out in first gear. Is that what you mean? Should I get that looked at?

Delta-
No, this problem is when you press the clutch in, since the t.o. bearing is squashed, the fork itself is trying to engage - or disegage actually- the clutch. The car can be driven by starting in first gear with the key, then carefully shifting at the right rpms. I don't think it's the same thing as what's wrong with your car.

It's probably something wrong with the latch mech on the door. What I would do is pull the door handle off and try working the mechanism.
OH. wait if the door doesn't open at all, that might be a problem.. Hrmm. this will require a bit of thinking. More later..

I don't have the identical aforementioned problem with my clutch, but i have noticed an increasingly growing discrepency with it (i think). And this is why... problem is, i don't think I noticed it before when i was shifting, but sometimes when i get lazy and miss the good shifts, and end up getting back on the gas too late/bringing out the clutch too soon, i get the shakes throughout my steering column. And before you tell me my technique is all messed up and I don't know how to drive a 5-spd
(remember lazy) it doesn't buck violently like as if a real rookie was in the left seat. It's frusterating because it's hard to explain, but basically if i miss the good timing (only if i miss it), the sensation is almost like i'm driving over rumble strips, and the steering wheel shakes like my tires are outta balance. Can anyone relate? Or help me out? Is my clutch going to that big German cemetary in the sky?
