I have a pain in the xxxx problem with my 1997 Passat 1.8T. Ever since new I have been complaining about horrible interference on AM with the ignition (i.e. without even the engine on). It is a horrible screaching sound which winds down when I switch the ignition off ending in a stutter. I have a top of the range Blaupunkt which I took out of my previous MK3 Golf (which also had roof aerial) so I know the radio works fine. The garage took it out a few times and played around - the aerial adapter is there, put a power supply direct from the battery etc. all to no avail. Bizarre!
Any ideas?
