hey,
I have seen some nice golf stock looking headlights. Is it possible to open them up and paint it black..can I find clear lenses for the stock lights? any suggestions?

For stock? I think the best-looking thing you can do is put the slanted eyelids on them. Look great. Avoid headlight covers....I will find you and hurt you if you install them.

(Just trying to help here) Does anyone know if it's possible to crack open the stock lights the way some have with the A4-look lights in order to paint them? If it's possible, that would be a good, cheap mod for those looking to save some money. Maybe do that and get some Testors tint and you're on your way...
Just a thought,

Oh no not the Joey mod! I don't think that would work though because in regular mk3 gti lights, if you opened them up you'd be painting the reflective surface that shines the light, but in the mk4 lights, you just paint the extra backing, not the actual reflective surface. SO, in the end I suggest just biteing the big one and get the mk4 look ones

What I meant was the silver on the face of the light. I know atleast the outer half inch on my old Jetta lights and my wife's Golf lights are silver. My Vento lights are black in that area. I'm referring to the silver perimeter, not the reflector area itself.
