dude, according to everyone that lived through the 1980s... it's sacriligeous to rip on KITT. i'd start running before the angry mob finds you.

i lived thru the 80s thankyouverymuch!
and i recognize how "radical" and "gnarly" the car was then, but today it looks like such a joke! anyone know the specs of that thing anyway? 100hp??

it was a simple trans am, but they called it a "black T-Top" on the show! They NEVER called it a firebird.... NEVER! Be on the lookout for a "black T-Top", liscense plate, KNIGHT! lol
Also, that banshee concept they used in that really wierd TV movie, was, strange none the less.. I think they had a turbo 6 for power??

Looking back on this, the nearly stock appearance of KITT is amusing. Still love it, though. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

That picture of Hasselhoff and Gary Coleman is awesome.

This thing is KITT? A red sportcar? That's extremely lame...

I like super pursuit mode where all these wacky fins and wings pop out (rice?) and the car goes 300+ despite inducing major drag!
It was also funny to see KITT jump lava in one episode as well. Not sure if it was in super pursuit mode or not then.

That's because the producer of Knight Rider is the same as the producer of Battlestar Galactica
(little bit of insider trivia). Glen Larson was his name and he did a lot of other TV shows including Magnum PI, The Fall Guy, and Quincy. Take a look at the credits and you'll see "Glen Larson Productions" in both shows

yea... i NEVER missed that show either. for a kid in the 80's, there was NO OTHER show on TV i liked more. i liked the T/A too... debadged, all monochromatic... and i dug the two set of driving lights in the modified nose

i always enjoyed the scenes where it was OBVIOUS that they were using scale models... like the lava scene

There's a website that will make a complete replica of KITT for you - it costs around 45G. Or you can buy the parts and do it yourself...
<Rumaging for the address...>
Ahh here is it:

Mark's Kits
I'd totally do it if I had 50G to spend

What's with the German's fetish with David Hasselhoff? I can't stand Knight Rider even though I grew up in the 80s. I did like Battlestar and the Fallguy.

I know someone that has built 2 replicas of KITT, and I have seen one of them in person.
Gotta give him credit for doing almost everything himself. His interior looked very similiar to the pic you posted Khyron.
The trans am he used was a piece though.

Hey, didnt they also put the Knight Industries 2000 brain into a 57 chevy in that lame TV movie? Or was that the KARR brain?

Yes it was KITT - or a mini-version of KITT - while they waited for the new body to be built ...
Michael Knight and KARR never got along - KARR would have attempted to kill Michael ...
yeah I loved the show too ...

Pretty sad when the car was a better actor than the star of the show

This once again proves Norm Macdonald's theory: GERMANS LOVE DAVID HASSELHOFF.
Re: How could we have ever thought this car was cool?!?! (Triumph)

A kid who graduated from my High school last year had
those red lights on the front of his white 92 Mustang GT.
It looks cool on KITT, but a little out of place on anything
but a black Trans Am.
