i just got this 98 jetta glx the guy said he thinks the person before him had a chip put in it but he wasnt sure where do i look??

Aside from removing the ECU to physically check for a chip, you could rev it and see where the redline rev limiter cuts out. Stock rev limit is 6G but most chips push it to 6900. If you want to know for sure though, follow these instructions to pull the ECU and check for a chip.

Floor it in neutral to see if it has the stock 6500rpm rev limiter

6500rpm is stock

chips put it at 7200RPM

do some WOT in 1st and 2nd
