Re: How do I remove my antenna base from my 2005 jetta GLI ?????? (black072)
Its got a nut with spikes on it that goes on from underneath, and secures the antenna base to the roof. The base itself is threaded.
If you pop the headliner down along the rear window, you should be able to reach the nut, just be real careful not to crease the headliner. You might have to pull the rear door weatherstrip down along the top of the rear doors, and remove the rear grab-handles to get enough room.
The Antenna base has a short antenna lead with a connector, its usually stuck under some adhesive foam to the headliner, disconnect it.
With the nut off, the base lifts up off the roof, theres a square hole, so you don't have to worry about lining it up nicely again when you put it back on.
