I am trying to replace a cruise control switch and need to remove the knee facia on the lower part of the dash. I see there are 4 screws on the bottom yet the thing won't come off. I want it off to fix the poor power window wiring the PO rigged up. Can someone tell me how to remove this thing?

On my 97 Jetta after you removed the screws you had to push straight down (clips at the top) and it slides right out. Not sure if that helps or not but it was the same thing with the 4 screws then I would just bang down on the top of the guard and it pops out.

I have a 90 cabby and on mine there are two bolts and two nuts on each side. you need to take all four of the off before you can take the knee bar off.

You have to feel around in back (in front really) of the ends of the kneebar to find all of the fasteners- the rear-most 4 are a little buried.
Just make sure you put the bar back in!
