Re: how do you hold your tig welder? (D Wiz)

for aluminum you want to pulse ( up and down on the foot pedal) that is how you get the nice stack of dimes look-takes a bit of practice.
when you get good you should be able to weld with either hand-i have to for work, well that AND do it in a mirror
, harder than you even think- until you learn the way-then its second nature, i use the mirror welding the cages in cars and when making manifolds up so i dont have to spin the heads around all over the place http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: how do you hold your tig welder? (hkk735)

yeah i hate pusling the pedal, i have gotten a few great beads, thats where th emain learning problem is i think, learning to control the heat to prevent blowing holes
thanks

BTWm what TIG you guys use? i was htinking of maybe trying to get a lincoln syncrowave 175, a few poeple on honda-tech use it and say its great, they make equal length headers, manifolds etc http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif $1500 isnt that bad considering you can make your $$ back

I use my right, and filler in the left, I hold the torch like a penciland run the side of my hand along the work peice as a guide,
I have a older miller 330 AB/P rated for 460 amps but when tested puts out closer to 600 amps, it doesnt have alot of features like the newer syncrowaves but it has post flow, HF, watercooled torch setup and HF start
