I wanted to get taillights like these. People told me about performance cafe. Others have suggested getting clear taillights and painting them. So if I get all clear Hella taillights, how can I paint them to look like one of these cars? What kind of paint or tape would someone use to do this? What is the easiest way?

At pep boys, theres certain spray paint for it (made to let light still be seen through). I believe its spray on and it would also be best to use painters masking tape....that way no sticky stuff gets stuck on your lights when you take the tape off. Mask off the part you want clear and spray the rest. Make sure to use a clear coat since your painting the outside of the tails, that way it wont come off.

Re: (TwinkleToez)

Just go to your local hobby shop and pick up some Testors Candy Apple, or Candy Grape and wett sand the part you want to paint nice and smooth.
I would get some professional tape and such to tape off the parts your not going to be painting with, and I have found through doing many of these that it takes some practice, but if you do it in one thick coat it's VERY smooth just like glass.
Let it sit long enough so it dries hard, and then have them shot professionaly with clear.
If your not very good with a rattle can then do several really light coats, but I have done many and find it better with one thick coat. If you do it right it looks like it came from the factory that way.
