On my 97 Gl Jetta, I took off the two clips that hold on the Distributor Cap and now I can;t get the two clips back on. What is the procedure to get both clips back onto the cap? Help, my car is stuck at Starbucks

i just took mine off, you gotta push it down really fawkin hard, and the clips even harder!!

It's tough...try to get the back one on, then press down really hard and push the front one on. Careful though, if you break one, you have to replace the ENTIRE distributor, cost me $300 Cdn to do it

i used a flat tip screwdriver to help pop it back on.
Also, i thought id read somewhere that someone had broken one and was able to just replace the clip... i dunno though.

Thanks for the replies. I eventually had to take a piece of wire and hang it below the back clip and pull the wire up to make the back clip snap into place. The front clip snapped into place with some pliers. Beware the back clip!

Yup..I always do the back clip first, 'cause it is much harder to get at.

I broke my front one using a flat head screwdriver trying to put it back on. You can't just replace the clips, it's not available as a separate piece

so I had to buy an entirely NEW distributor. Thanks VWOA for designing a crappy part. It should have 2 phillips screws like EVERYONE else uses.
