The fastest that I have driven was 145 mph in a MB C230 with the Avante Garde Package which is the German Version of the Sport Package. I was in Austria on the Autobahn and my goal was 150 but I ran out of road. I have gone about 124 in my 1998 Jetta 2.slow (I still cannot believe it made it up that high) and I have got to tell ya 145 is way faster. Whiping by cars at 145 when they are at like 65-70 is sick. Only in Europe would I feel safe doing this. At least they know how to drive over there. When I was at 145 I was totally white nuckled, I had my Mom and Grandmother in the car and it was sick. That was one of the coolest moments of my driving career (if you can call it that). It was a major rush. In the states driving faster than 150 is not smart. Talk about legal actions against you or some a$$ hole pulling out in front of you. In Germany or Austria people actually yield correctly and it's not bad!
Hit 120 mph this morning on the way to work - it was a section of the 22 freeway that has no shoulders and therefore no place for cops to hide. It was eerily empty this morning so I gunned it. It seemed to have quite a bit left in it, but I saw traffic ahead and slowed down.
Gawd, the car's sooo stable and quiet at speed; I love it!!
128 mph in stock 2001 Jetta 1.8T <AWW> automatic running on 17" Longbeaches with stock tires... I think they are H-rated... didn't want to check the 130 mph limit on the tires.
