Everyone on here keeps mentioning the RAV4 V6 is the ultimate sleeper with 0-60 at like 6 seconds

the same engine is in the camry. has anyone driven it? what does your butt dyno say? and what are the real world MPGs?

My in-laws have a 2009 ES350 (same engine I'd think) that I drove quite a bit around Yosemite last year.
It moves in a straight line...it was a scary experience driving it around twisty roads as the power
was tempting yet one has no idea what the wheels are up to.

I think this thread highlights an important matter: nowadays econoboxes are as fast as sports cars in a straight line on regular roads. If you own a BMW you can no longer spank what you think is an inferior car.

I remember back in a day when I bought my B6 S4 - man, that was so much faster than most of things on the road and I could do whatever I wanted in terms of merging, passing, etc. and doing it all safely just because I had so much power and acceleration advantage.

Not so much anymore, you have to count on other drivers letting you merge/pass/etc.

So I kind of feel the horsepower race is almost over, most of newer vehicles are almost equal on the road unless you own something really extreme.

It would be nice if Mazda got off their Skyactive asses, and put an engine with some actual balls in either the 3 or the 6. Even the Accord's 4-banger is gutsier than anything you can get on the mazda

its a shame too because I think the accord interior is a messy ****-hole, too many screens, too much going on. I'd take the garmin-looking gps of the mazda of it

While "sportiness" (or at least the implication of it) is a fine reason to buy a manual, I always bought manuals primarily because they were cheaper. Back in my early car buying years (mid 90s) an automatic was a $1,000+ option. That was significant percentage of the total price back then.
