the 24 valve can flow more air through the extra 12 valves making it a better motor stock, thats y vw replaced the 12 valve with it, its not rocket science. The 12v has more aftermarket parts available for it than the 24v tho, so it can be modded easier.

only thing better about the 24v is the tranny. many 12v'ers are pushing 200 crank in a lighter body
