Re: ~~How in the funk do I take off the crank pulley main bolt?~~ (Mightymouse)

my buddy had this problem with his audi - he borrowed a chain clamp - it's a metal shaft with a chain on the end - and a hook - you wrap the chain around the pulley, and secure it back to the pole - you then have a buddy hold onto it as you spin the main bolt...think of it as a metal strap wrench......other people just use a killer impact gun and try to loosen it very fast.....doing it by hand may prove very difficult....good luck!

vw makes a special tool that locks the crank. i dont know if you would have access to it but i am sure you could buy one at your local vw dealership.
