Maybe we could start a pool; closest one to the "born-on" date wins?
I predict a Count Blah vs. punkassjim contest down to the wire........
This is ALL in good fun, BTW
The first 5 are my guesses; add your own!
A likely candidate for the swap:

Blah is a body guy aint he? I vote Jim.

No, a majority of my work are swaps/mechanical upgrades, and as a bonus I do body and paint.. you'll see it all when I finsh [email protected]wvortex's Corrado.. He plans on doing an article on it when I finish it htis month.....
and I would gladly but a 3.2 in my Jetta if someone wants to donate one

Ya, that swap has been averaging $6 grand or more...from the 2 that I have seen on ebay.
FWIW, You can .:R32 a standard 24V if you bore it to 3.1 and run the .:R32 crank, rods and sized pistons. I priced that out once. The .:R32 rotating assy. was right a $3g alone.

dosent the guy w/ the jazz blue 2 door jetta have that motor in his car??? I thought i saw it in a pic on here

no, that motor wasn't in existence when that car was built. It originally had a 24v 2.8 liter VR6 in it, but Eastside put the 12v mk4 VR6 in it before it was sold.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure I know who voted that I should get a job. And I cast the second vote for that.
With any luck, I'll have something close to that drivetrain in a year or two. I'm keeping the 1.8T, though.
I like it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Derek does work to all these cars because a) he has the know-how, b) he's good at it, and c) other people ask him to do these things to their cars.
Then there's me...just some bugger who has a crack habit for my car, and had more money than brains for a good long stretch
Derek's got the skills to pull off a project like that. I just work hand-over-fist until I encounter a need for welding or something else I don't know how to do.

tell him to go to a 4-wheel dyno. I'd hate to see the poor bugger launch off the rollers when the rear wheels kick in.

yeah, i miss his unlimited amount of dub-knowledge

I think he was shoing the Mk4 guys how to color-match their rotors and pads, after you fill your washer fluid with antifreeze.
No, seriously, maybe we should put him on a milk carton...
