Re: (banks055)

3-5 peak hp is all that you can expect from ANY exhaust. But it will make the entire powerband a LOT smoother. And i would suggest magnaflow just because of the sound (it sounds wicked! growls, but not raspy or annoying).
as for chip - it depends on what you want. The GIAC is reprogramable, so as you add mods, you can get it reflashed.

Re: how much hp does a magnaflow give a vr? (banks055)

Here is a article from EuroTuner that did exhaust test on mk4 12v VR6. Same engine I believe.
Read more at http://eurotuner.com/techartic....html
2nd best gain
Magnaflow
Stock horsepower: 162.79
Stock torque: 170.16
Magnaflow horsepower: 171.15
Magnaflow torque: 182.97
Diameter: 2.25"
Jetex exhaust bet it by lest then a few 1/10 of a hp
. But the magnaflow had the highest torque ratings.

Jetex
Stock horsepower: 162.79
Stock torque: 170.16
Jetex horsepower: 171.34
Jetex torque: 182.11
Diameter: 2.5"
Overall it the best system for the price and it is high quality stuff

Re: (banks055)

I say go with Techtonics chip. My ex has a giac in her vr and I prefer the Techtonics. It just seems to have more driveable power and screams to 7000rpm if you choose...just before the vavles start floating!!! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: (apexslider)

i have giac in my 98 vr. i screams to 7000 no problem. no complaints here.
and valve floating is bad. thats why the stock chip limits the revs.
