for a 2.0L 16v CIS-E, with the easy stuff like euro cam, 2.25 exhaust, TT downpipe will get you in the +/- 130hp at the wheels, probably 145-150hp at the crank. If you are a later motronic setup it will have a few more ponies. Put in some more aggressive cams and it goes up from there. I believe 170hp at the crank is about the max with bolt ons, ported head, Schrick cams on the motronic 2.0L cars. Folks are bolting on turbos and G60s for even more power. Some also run nitrous for a quick boost.
My best run so far is 128.6whp on a DynoJet and 124.1whp on a Mustang Dyno.

Ill tell you the set up Ive got on mine. Well before I would do anything I would make sure my miles wernt to high. No matter how much ya pollish a terd it will still smell. But If your ok on the odometer, I would probly go for a good exhaust system from techtonics tuning and a TT downpipe. Thatl give you usualy aroung 14-18 hp. Then I relocated the battery to the trunk with an Optima for weight distribution and room for an intake system from K&N.(I custom made a ram air system which gave me amazing throttle responce and top end acceleration//email me for instructions) Then after my intake system, I had my car breething much better. The main way to increase HP. (That and Fuel increases)So then I would port and polish the head and get new gaskets. If your mechanically inclined and have around 12-16 hrs you can do it yourself.(although you may loose some blood doing it). Now your engines breething system will kick. (any one smell a setup for cams)I through on a pair of the euro Scirocco cams. Have a much bigger duration and fit better than the Nuespeed Cams(opinion)By now as opposed to the 123hp a 16V hits, you should be pushn aroung 150-+. Now I guaruntee youll love it so far If you do all that. But Iff you really want to go for big power. Id probly through a Turbo on there with a boost controler and try and run at around 10psi. And if you got the cash (youll need alot) through a spearco intercooler in. After that The only real things you could do is little tuning and then through on a 2.0l block. Anybody have questions. Ask me. Good luck!!!

Re: How much HP have you pulled out of your 16V above stock? (jettsetter4life2)

when i dynoed my 2.0 16V a couple of years ago, it was good for about 136hp at the wheels. apparently with all the coast-down tests and whatnot, it worked out to 172hp at the crank or something to that effect. it was a long time ago, so i really can't remember the details.
what i do remember is pulling consistent 14.2s in the quarter with that motor in my 81 rocco. and that was with a leaking exhaust, and 14.6.20 mickey thompsons that wouldn't hook up in first...
god, i miss the summer...

Whats up J? this is MN J with your sister car but mine is black and .4 faster.
My car is in a million peices all over the garage so cross your fingers I can get it back together by Cincy so we can terrroize the locals.
talk to you later EH
Re: How much HP have you pulled out of your 16V above stock? (pre 93 only)

yeah j! what's up, bra?
dude, i'll be at cinci, but the only car that'll be able to give you a run (i hope) is alee's GTI. we should have the full CIS-E from a rocco in there by that time.
my roc currently suffers from the following:
tired block
8th blown tranny (yet another 4K bites the dust)
twisted front crossmember
none of these things are really that big of a deal, but i'm lack the time and cash to fix her up. so, methinks that i'll be rocco-less until spring of 2003.
i'll be rolling down around in my 89 jetta trophy. 2.0 16V (natch), header (hope to have it installed), 2.5" TT exhaust, poly everywhere, apex suspension. if i get a 14.99 out of it, i'll be pleased.
you lead the way, i got your back

155hp and 138ft/lbs to the wheels.
2.0 16V
Schrick 276s
i'm running about 168 HP to the wheels on my '92 jetta GTX.
according to the 15% rule, that's pretty close to 195 HP at the crank....

Re: How much HP have you pulled out of your 16V above stock? (the_mad_bastard)

Hey if you were runnin 136 at the wheels than you probly werent runnin 176 at the crank. Probly closer to around 150-160hp range. Just a little FYI. Whats yur whole setup. How you runnin 14.2's

Yo Jay! Whats up man? My cars is in pieces also all over the garage but it should be together by May I have some goodies on the way.. drop me an email at work or whatever and I'll fill you in. I have Lexan windows now, if you go to the Motorsport Forum you'll see a thread in there that has pics. The Rocco was retarded NA power. Spanked many a ITR.
Re: How much HP have you pulled out of your 16V above stock? (jettsetter4life2)

what can i say? i just pass on the details that i got from the dyno operator. is th edyno operator a goon? i dunno. those are the numbers that he gave me, and that's what i'm sticking with.
stock 2.0 16V block
1.8 head, P&P/decked
TT race downpipe
TT 2.25" mandrel exhaust
stock 16V rocco CIS-E
stock cams
that's the majority of it. the car has been stripped out quite a bit. it's no luxury car, that's for sure.
and how am i running 14.2? i just do. when i ran the 14.2, i was using MT slicks that wouldn't hook up in first. if i had had the money to get some wider rubber, and if my exhaust wasn't such kife at the time, i probably coulda done a little better.
with burnt out 185.60.14 yoko A520s, i can do 14.8s all day. it's silly tho cuz the 60' times are usually 2.2-2.3s. no fun at all.

Re: How much HP have you pulled out of your 16V above stock? (the_mad_bastard)

jason, out of curiousity, what kind of gains did you get with the race downpipe?
Re: How much HP have you pulled out of your 16V above stock? (16volt)

hey that my rizzy on your site..tight
Re: How much HP have you pulled out of your 16V above stock? (kbs)

for any doubters of jay's rocco, I can't vouch for any dyno numbers cause thats beyond what I know about his car but I know one thing its FAST, plain and simple FAST! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: How much HP have you pulled out of your 16V above stock? (rocco2nr)

rocco2nr: the biggest gain that i got with the downpipe was a non-leaky exhaust! it is my opinion that the TT race header is THE BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY for a slammed mk1, anyways.
i bought it for whatever horrendous price it was, and when installing it, i had hoped that it would fit perfectly, which is usually what TT gear is. the header, however, was angled in such a way that if we tried to connect my 2.25" TT exhaust to it, i would have had to cut part of my floor away to do it. so, we were forced to weld in a 2.25" flex pipe to connect everything together.
my rocco is *probably* about 3-3.5" lower than stock, and the header stuck down from the bottom of the car far enuff that it would hit the ground all the time. it looked really good at night, while blasting along a highway, having sparks fly all over the place
- but that was the extent of the headers' positive aspects.
with the header, the top speed was an indicated 215km/h, while the downpipe managed to net me an indicated top speed of 217km/h. bottom end wasn't affected either. the car pulled very strongly from low revs.
HTH!
