Well it all depends on a few things.
Which motor you have AWW or AWD or AWP...
Which chip you go with. GIAC, APR, Upsolute. Neuspeed (coined "nospeed" by the vortex)
I think generally speaking 40 Hp and 50 lb/ft is a reasonable guess on average for the older (150hp) motors.

That is pretty conservative. On my AWW (150hp/155ft-lbs stock) I gained 65hp and 90ft-lbs at the crank, making the chipped results 215/245. My car has yet to see a dyno, but these figures are pretty reasonable.

einsig - I don't want to sound confrontational but - did you do a before and after chip dyno at the same location in similar conditions? That's the only way you can tell how much you have gained considering I've seen an AWW unmodified car put 148whp and right afterwards an AWD put 145whp on the same dyno... 40hp/50-60 torque increase is what most people get - they just don't know what their baseline is (darn VW underrating their cars
)

Yeah I hear you Gambit and I agree. Nope I haven't dyno'd yet, so I don't know for sure. I'm just posting the advertised gains from APR against the advertised stock numbers from VW.
I will be dyno-ing soon. I'll be sure to do a stock run first and a 93 octane run. I'll surely post the results too.

once you get the dyno#s, what conversion factor are you going to use to get crank #'s? or does the dyno do the conversion? im hoping for the best for you but i have difficulty seeing 215/245 w/o a ridiculos conversion factor.

People with the AWD APR chip (advertised 196/240) have posted more torque at the crank than advertised. It is totally possible. I don't see a peak of 215hp at the crank unbelievable either, especially with the 93 octane program. APR more often is conservative with their advertised numbers anyway.
But yeah only the dyno will tell, so stay tuned!

215/245 crank would mean - 188/214 wheel (using 12.5% drive train loss) - that's not unreasonable at all. I was present when a friend of mine dynoed 195/238 at the wheels with just chip, K&N filter and Eurosport catback exhaust! That would make 223/272 at the crank using the same conversion... I just wonder what I'll make to the ground with my little K04 turbo

maybe im just pissed cause my neuspeed claims 240ft.lbs and all i got was 222ft.lbs according to my block 120, but actually i see a lot of block 120's with #'s that dont come as high as mine (301nm) and these are with upsolutes,etc. which claim more torque than my neuspeed. just leading me to have little faith in manufactures #'s. that, or block 120's are inaccurate, which might be the case. EiNSIG, do you happen to have a vagcom or live near n.y. to see what your block 120's look like as compared to your soon to come dyno?

I odn't have one, but I know some people that do. I'll surely be doing that soon too.
As far as Neuspeed being lower than advertised, I don't know what to say. APR seems to really underrate the torque and be right on for the hp. I know Wolk's got some really high numbers (above advertised) with just his stage 1 APR chip (before he got his stage III kit). So I'm pretty sure most people will see numbers around there.
