Re: How much should I sell my Jetta for? (BostonMk4)

I already checked out Edmunds, and I think it's a little high - that's why I wanted some personal opinions.
If anyone has had an experience buying a similar car - how much did you pay?
Thx.

Actually, Edmunds is usually a little low, and KBB seems to be pretty high. I'd say look somewhere in the middle.

At least 17 000$...
drop to 12 000...and I'll buy it

good luck for getting a good price...
Are you looking for another car??

I'm looking for a Contour SVT. I found one for a great price, so I figured I'd put my car up for sale and see if I could get what I want for it.

The real question is how much do you need to get for it? Use that number as a starting point. I suggest you visit this link from Edmunds.com. It will link you to two sites to sell your car: http://powershopper.edmunds.com/products/ups/index.jsp?id=lin9120
Next, I would go to CarFax.com and get a vehicle report on your car. If you show this to prospective buyers, it may help convince them that your car is the one to buy since it has a clear title with proof.
Finally, I would take it around to a couple of dealers and see what they would give you for it on a trade-in. Ask for ACV (actual cash value). This will give you an idea of a wholesale price. Then, you can adjust the price for retail. BTW, the Edmunds used TMV info is very accurate.
