i think maybe a chip and exhaust will do it. type-r's have high end power , which is common for vtec, but the torque created by chipping the 1.8t would negate that effect. unless it's a race to 100 or something

off the line though, chip and exhaust should do the trick. doesn't hurt to add downpipe, intake, peloquin, k04, fmic ...

To beat them in a straight line: easy. chip it and DP + exhaust. That would do it.
To beat them in anything else but a straight line: good luck!!!!

If my car wasn't limited at 135, I might have had a chance one night. Must getr chip!

Beating a Type R in a straight line doesnt impress me and it shouldt you. If you want to race something in a straight line race a Mustang or Camaro. If you take a Type R in the corners though now that is a respectable feat.
But to answer your question if you did a GIAC/FM Turbo Back/Evo CAI combo you wont have a problem http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
