You know.. alot of thieves break into A2s by jamming a flat head screwdriver under the doorhandle where the lock mechanism is.. by the gasket and they lift up on the handle of the screwdriver.. pushing down the door latch mechanism... *boing* the door is open. My friend's cars keep getting broken into that way.. Thank God my car has Armor door plates.. but before my GTI was painted.. you could tell that ppl have tried to break-in before... the window was scratched and then some areas around the door.

My local PD said that they quit carrying slim jims. They actually recommended breaking the window. I had to laugh when the guy said that.

slim jims are pretty cool things, i came up on one once when an absent minded tow truck driver came by to help me with a tow and somehow forgot his slim jim on my lawn... lucky for other car-owners the only car Ive used it on was my own, trying it out. it works but if your window water seal thingy ( the outer one that wipes the water as you roll your window down...) is old like mine it can get all jagged and not do its job as well. good luck

AAA will get you into your car, but a lot of local police departments have stopped helping people get into their cars with keys locked inside because of liability reasons. with a volkswagen it shouldn't matter, as you can't conceivably lock your keys in your car without an extra set, but still, this is why police won't let people into their cars with keys inside. could NOT be their car, and vroom, off they go with someone else's car WITH the help of the po-lice.

what i always do is pry the top of the door(between the roof and window frame ) open a little bit and stick a hanger down through the gap and pull the lock up, or else even better if your car has power locks, yeah push the button

i locked my keys in the gti 3 weeks ago. i used a hanger. i made it straight. bent it at 1/4 of the length and the at the tip made it a lil bunchy so i could push the lock mechanism up. it took me half an hour but i got it. i could do it now pretty quick but i wouldnt every use it for evil. and for tbird to say what you said. you could probably get in trouble for that.

You can easily break into a VW with a screwdriver or "slim jim"
however, the remote locks that came with my alarm are "slim jim" proof!!! The only way into my car is with a screwdriver or through the window.
a kinda funny story, my car was in the shop getting some work done(wheel bearing, new rotors, etc.) and I show up to pick my car up. What do I see??? My mechanic was cutting my door handle in half with bolt cutters!!!!! They had locked my keys in my car and there was NO openning the doors!!!! Even after they had taken the door handle off they couldn't pop the locks up, so I had to go back home and get my spare remote, plus they had to give me a new door handle
