how to clean off the carbon from pistons without head removal

i really dont want to pull the head since there is nothing wrong with it. I want to lower the compression just a little bit because my car is knocking with a stock chip and stock -6 degrees timing @ idle with 91 octane gasoline. My compression readings range from 198-205 psi. Or another alternative is if there are any solvents or fuel additives available that would do the trick.

no
Re: how to clean off the carbon from pistons without head removal (2035cc16v)

your no help
Re: how to clean off the carbon from pistons without head removal (idt512)

Shaving the carbon deposits does very little to lower compression. how about getting different pistons? Solvent and fuel additives? To raise the octane levels right? STP carries an octane booster. ???

Interested in trying Italian tunning?

I did that the other day. It actually does work well. After doing it the car revved much better and the exhaust didn't smell as bad. I was holding it at 50-55 in second gear for about 30sec-1min. Hehehe

Eh? Try Bradford tuning, hold it at 90 in 4th gear for about 50 miles

Speaking of that, my car is in fine running condition, needs tune-up(spark plugs etc.). I was thinking of doing that. It should be safe, my compression is 180,180,175,180. What do you think?

it works eh? lol good god.. hmm what do u think... my reverse is chipped ... hehe i wonder if mine can handle that p.s how fast is 55 mph in km'/ exactly? almost 100?
p.s what does it exactly do, second at high revving speeds?

Well I have a 16v so it has a higher redline with a 2y tranny. That's were it's close to hitting the limiter but not bouncing off of it. So it varies for everyone else depening their redline and tranny. But I've always heard to hold it right before the redline or fuel cutoff. Not bouncing off the fuel cutoff!!!

No idea really. Never taken it past 4000. Never needed to.

really??
ho hum.. why? if u want top speed u gotta redline every gear

actually for top speed you only need to redline it in 5th.

Technically I think most of our engines accel best in the midband, so that's where you'd want to use the other gears.
Me, I just think it's fun to rev the engine out.

Not when I'm going up against a 79 hondamatic
ROFL you kidding? I value my tranny more than I value what I could gain in terms of street creds when going up against 79 beaters.

Actually, 8V is a mid range reving engine. 16V starts screamin' past 4K...to like 6500.
Re: how to clean off the carbon from pistons without head removal (negativl)

TBird: holding it at near redline in second gear (or whichever gear for that matter) forces the engine to work at the highest load and.. etc.. etc.. is supposed to help burn off some of the internal carbon deposits..
you can always try ZEEMAX!! Now with natural lemon and cherry flavors!!

And those 16v are definitely something to take notice of once they take off.
