Does anyone know what wire can be tapped to get the Engine Speed (RPM) signal?
I'm trying to figure out how to connect a Defi VSD Concept heads up display to my R. (Install instructions: http://www.defi-shop.com/produ...l.pdf )
Without opening up the dashboard yet, I figured out from the Bentley manual that I could probably get Ground, Positive, Positive when Ignition ON, and Vehicle Speed signals by tapping the wires (if they are accessible) behind the blue connector of the instrument cluster.
Unlike Mk4s before 2000, the R32 does not get the Engine Speed from pin 11 of the blue connector any more.

Check out the VWNavi forums. They have a walk thru install of the OEM Nav units and I want to say it's #3, blue/white wire off the speedo harnesss.

I figured out that pin 3 on the blue connector is from the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor).
I, however, need the signal from Engine Speed sensor (tachometer) in RPMs.
