I purchased a used Corrado, and the owner claimed the car has Oetinger 268 cams. I'm not sure I believe it. I'm wondering if there's any markings on their cams I can look for when I take the car in for timing chains and tensioners.
Thanks
John

Re: How to identify Oetinger cams? (92Jetta2L)

Didn't Oettinger call their vr6 cams 270's? Weren't they made by Schrick and basically 268's?
JT Motorsport used to show an Oettinger VGI for close to $2k - it said Oettinger instead of Schrick but looked identical.
Not sure about markings....

Re: How to identify Oetinger cams? (CorradoSLC)

Oettinger did make a 270 cam set for the VR6, which Schrick made for them to their specs. I had the pleasure of driving a GTI VR6 with them years ago and loved the fat torque curve. These are not the same as Schrick 268s.
The "Oettinger" VGI from JT was just a Schrick with the Oettinger logo sandblasted on by JT. Oettinger did market a rebadged VGI with their own chip tuning, but it wasn't sold in the states.
