How to lift the bumper?

I have a 97 Jetta, and there is a gap between the bumper and the car of about an inch. I was wondering what I should do to close the gap completely because it really makes it stand out and looks bad. Maybe the bolts are loose? Any help would be appreciated.

why dont one of you peole with sagging bumpers go take your bumper off and see what's causing it to sag??

Hmmm...maybe something is loose, or else fat people are sitting on your bumper. Use a bentley and some common sense folks.

thems fightin words...

about the bumper thing... it sounds to me like the supports are prolly coming loose. i would begin dissection of the bumper, a bentley would be nice to have. just start takin things apart until you find the problem. then re-assemble so the gap is smaller. i took apart my front bumper once... it wasn't so bad.
