i believe its illegal to tint or place stickers infront of a CHMSL.

i just want to remove the brakelight(the one that's in the interior of our cars, right behind our rear windshield), so that when tinting the rear winshield, there wouldnt be a hole left. I'm putting the brakelights rite back after tinting.

To remove the parcel shelf:
1st from the trunk:
-look up at the bottom of the parcel shelf near the 3rd brake light, there is a connector you'll need to disconnect.
-NOTICE how the parcel shelf has 3 or 4 black plastic tabs on the bottom that fit into slots on the metal deck (when you reinstall you'll need to get those lined up again)
2nd from inside the passinger compartment:
-Lay down the back seats
-remove the caps from the LATCH system mounts on the parcel shelf
-use a socket (12mm??) to undo the bolt under each of the LATCH mounts
-**this part I'm not totally certain of** there may be a few plastic snaps that have to be undone running across the section of the shelf immediately behind the seats.
-pull on the parcel shelf to disconnect the tabs you observed above when you were looking up at the bottom of the shelf from your trunk
With that, the parcel shelf and the 3rd brake light should be out. You'll need to reverse the process to reinstall.
Hope that helps
EDIT: the above is for the Jetta
