I am replacing my ignition coil on my vr6, and I am converting it to the newer style(I have an early 1999.5 which used a mk3 style ignition coil). My question is, how can I remove wires from their original harness to put them in the new one. This is not the exact harness, but is very similar(mine has 5 wires), how do I remove these wires?

theres a way to do it, it takes a lot of patience and gentle coaxing. I had to do it on my foglight connectors. i forgot how though

or u cud cut the wire leaving a few inches to work with on each harness and splice together the harness you need

would prefer not cutting because I have to turn around and immediately place in this harness.

I don't recall if its the 1 or 2 prong tool, but this is the OEM tool:
VAS 1978/29

VAS 1978/18

o, nothing, i thought I have put the wires in wrong or the wiring order had changed between coil packs because my car wouldn't start...just a dead battery though

just cut both cables and put some electrical tape

its the easy way, i spent hours trying to take'em out when i installed the oem ipod adapter http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3601328, nothing, i cut em, it works great.
