I was curious about the airbox and how to change the air filter on our 2.0T, so I took some time and pictures--for those who are curious as well...
1) Read syntrix's post on Removing FSI (2.0T) Cover.
2) Turn cover upside down (place on something soft, as to not scratch the top).
3) Again (from syntrix's post) restore mounting bushings if you haven't done so yet.
4) Depending on how you took off the cover, remove the intake hose and the clamp.
5) Loosen 8 screws (circled in green). NO NEED TO REMOVE!

6) Separate cover halves from the front. Slowly, as there are hinges at the rear (by heatshield).

7) With pieces apart, change air filter.

When putting pieces back together, start with the hinge, and hold the air filter--so it doesn't fall out. Make sure screws are still pulled out, or cover won't seal.
Follow steps in reverse to restore cover back to service.

Re: Howto: Change FSI (2.0T) Air Filter [PICS] (Chuibacca)

While you are in there, you can see how the maf screen just pops out, too!
Good stuff Chuibacca, I've been meaning to get some pics of the filter cover off.
Once again, be very careful pulling up on the cover, grab where there's more thickness, I cracked my cover once, just visual, not even close to anything functional though!
YMMV, just be careful, yo! It's not that hard!

Re: (mycarisgrey)

You could get a Neuspeed CAI.
I think it requires Engine Cover removal...

I linked to this from mine... if he wants, I can append it
Either way, they are both cross-linked!

I put the K&N in also (33-2888). I don't have access to a VAG-COM yet (it's "in the mail"), but I'll post when I get it..
syntrix--I hope you didn't mind me linking to your post--thanks for doing the same.

why do you need a VAG-COM to change your air filter?
How many miles till you have changed your air filter too?

What about the VAG-COM?
Anyone know why?

You can log your maf and compare between stock filter and K&N. If you suck more, you should be creating more power.
Wow, this thread got bumped from the archives, awesome!!
