Ok I was at a local dealership yesterday trying to get a job as a mechanic. When I was done talking to the service manager, I asked him about the stalling problem we all are complaining about. He said that it is hard to determine what’s going on with out being there and having it plugged to a computer. To make a long story short. I got back in my car to leave. The car would not start. So I asked if they could look at it. And they did. But it took me seven (7) tries to get it to run.
Anyway, of coarse the car starts fine when the mechanic works on it. Well an hour and half later the mechanic came and told me the news. 1. He could not find the problem. So... 2. He called VW Tech and we found out the VW is aware of the stalling problem that the 02 and 03 VR6's are having. 3. They are working on a new program to fix it. However it wont be ready for a few months
. At least they are working on it. This makes me much happier. At least it is being addressed. VW will contact us when it is ready to get re-programmed. That is what I have now. Any questions?? I hope I answered them. If not let me know.

Re: I have good news (scooter45)

What VW needs to do now is to inform all the dealers so that we don't have to waste our time...explaining it to them. I just got a call to get version 6 software installed in my car to attempt to resolve the stalling problem...not that I was very optimistic since version 6 apparently isn't the fix....but now I have to call the dealer, cancel my appointment and try to explain why I don't want version 6...since they probably have no clue that VW is working on a new software version...
In any case GOOD NEWS !!! Thanks for keeping us informed... http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

or can they just update it with no drama?

aftermarket chip tuners will more than likely have the "fix" implemented shortly after VW does...

Tom,
I know you mentioned this almost a month ago. Thanks to you I know version 6 isn't the fix (just an improvement on other things) and that's why I was trying to delay the version 6 install...I am glad I will not have to get this service done twice. So thanks to you too Tom http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: I have good news (scooter45)

Here we go again...I just talked to my VW service/dealer (canceling my service appointment) and they claim that they were told by the VW rep that version 6 is the fix...

Is there a way to make VW to inform all of their dealers about this the new software version ?? I think they should distribute some sort of service bouletin...does anyone here work for a VW dealership ??

VoA Tech does distribute technical bulletins to all service departments. Some are better than others at actually reading them. Some are better than others at actually understanding them.
