Re: I need engine splash guards: 98 gti vr6: pics? help (granny1986)

Yea I have two, one to protect the serpentine belt & P/S pump (on my VR6) and one to protect the other side of the engine (by tranny). However, my oil filter housing is assed out. they don't attach to the front, but to the underside of the engine.

That one goes on the driver side bottom of the engine. There is also one that goes on the passenger side that protects the timing/accessories belts and part of the P/S pump. I can take pictures of mines when I get off work in 7 hours.

Yea those are important especially on the belt side. On 2.0L they protect the belt that runs the power steering pump. On the VR6, it protects the serpentine belt. Protect from what? Water that may splash up and accelerate the wear on the belt and exposed pulleys.
