Hey guys. Im up washing my car getting ready to take pictures of it tomarrow and then drive it to the Chicago Auto show. I have a problem. I recently had mintex rear pads installed on the brakes. There are 400 miles on them, and this is the first time I've tried cleaning the rims since they were installed. THE BRAKE DUST WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT COME OFF. AFTER RUBBING AS HARD AS I CAN, a little bit comes off, but at this rate it would take 2-3 hours per rim to get them clean. I've tried rim cleaner. soap, water, etc..... NOTHING WORKS! I don't want to use rubbing compound because it will ruin teh finish. WHAT SHOULD I DO? I need help NOW please!
P.S. I have VW OEM Montreal II's

I don't know where you live in Chicago, but over in Lombard there's a shop called Moto Persona that has a couple of different cleaners that could really help - either by Zymol or Meguiar's. My guess is they'd recommend a regular paint cleaner, as opposed to a polish compund, which is pretty harsh and probably unnecessary. They're real VW/Audi freaks over there, and Bryan (one of the owners) is a detail master - he'd probably show you a couple different options. 630.627.6686 is the #...
Hope that helps..

LOL. Could you take a picture of you soaking wet in the middle of the night?
I second the vote for Simple Green. Pretty effective.

try somekid of an oil... like body oil (i know you must have some of that
)... or cooking oil... that works on some stuff... but not everything... haven't tried it on wheels...
if not that.. then there's always "goof off" that stuff eats anything...

first calm down
then take bug and tar remover to it
if that doesnt work run down to lowes or something and get some degreaser
and if that doesnt work this never fails but its time consuming
get some "Liquid Metal Polish" it comes in a blue bottle
then when the wheels are clean to save them but a couple of coats of wax on them
