none of the parts stores books in my area have this part number in them...so i need the part number so they can search on their computer and see if it available for order...The nearest vw dealer is allmost 50 miles and i havent driven this car enough since i purchased it to know if its up to par for highway driving yet...thanks!!!

probably because they don't have a pcv valve.
what are you looking for, that grommet on the top of the valve cover?

I think this is correct. There is a "PCV" valve on 8v's, just most people don't refer to it as that. It functions as one though. As far as I know, these are available from your local VW dealer.
191-711-146-C - for the grommet $1.07
023-129-101 - the "PCV" valve, $50.81

Are you talking about the pressure regulating valve? It connects into the valve cover and acts like a PCV.

I had that part number on my receipt too, but I thought it was for the throttle body to intake manifold gasket. Thanks for correcting my mistake.

could this possibly cause a bad idle?? i wouldnt really call it bad, it just dies if im not driving.....?
