I'm at the track as we speak and just ran a 14.92 @ 93mph with the spare in the trunk and a little bit of wheel slippage @ the line. Think I could be in the 13's with a chip/intake/exhaust? SCHWEET... /me looks for some mustangs...

Under 15 for stock is great! Car and driver got 15.3/94mph and motor trend did 15.4/93mph. These 2002 1.8T are putting 166-171 hp at the WHEELS! VW could have realistically rated the 1.8T at 190 HP.

Well, I just made my second run of the day... 14.74 @ 95.06
The '02 330Ci in the ohter lane ran a 17.20... SLOW!!!! Jeez, I'm gettin cocky... I could be in the 14.5's with out all the poop in my car (Laptop, Spare, CD's... etc)

I must say you gotta be an awesome driver!!! I bet I would barely manage a 16 out of my AWP... mostly cause I cant drive worth crap when it comes to driving hard and fast in a straight line.
Got any tips for shifting and working the clutch????
What track / elevation are you at?? And do you want to come drive my car LOL!!
Really you need to put a boost gauge on it and see what kind of boost your making!!

Well, not to toot my own horn, but I've been drag racing since I was 12 (8 years now) My father is the VP/General Manager of Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, PA so I've been driving cars forever. Build date on my car? Not sure right jsut now, but i can check. I just got back from my third run, 14.736... So far kills include, 02 WRX, 02 BMW 330Ci, and a 96ish DelSol. My 60's are awesome, 2.229 on the 14.73 run.. i'm damned proud of that. Can't WAIT to go mustang huntin with my APR chip I'm gonna get... w00t! Rave'n: I'll drive your car if you fly me wherever you are :c) or you can come here. We have a VW race in June, a NOPI race in may, 2 IDRC Races, and a Summit Import race as well as a weekly Import class (set up by me :c) Launches, I bring the car up to aout 2800-3000, and just kinda let the clutch out. Don't dump it at all, just smoohly let it out and you should be flying. I shift @ 6200 and powershift it. Elevation at the track is 540' above sl, and corrected right now is -101'. Air is killer. Baro: 29.70", Temp: 46F, Hum: 37%. Nice and sunny out too. Not windy at all.

Thats some damn good air!! when we had a track here actual elevation is 5500 feet... but effective was always up in the high 7000's and sometimes well over 9500 feet

oh well... its nice to know that with a good driver our cars are capable of those times.
some more questions... I assume your on your stock 16's (or 17's) what tire pressures are you running front and rear? Damn you should get some drag radials! If you could get your 60foot times down to a 2.0 or 1.90 you'd be in the lower 14.4's possibly!

damn... I dont know how to powershift!!!!! I've been drag racing for 2 years but my car was a built automatic and this is my first 5 speed
oh well... its nice to know that with a good driver our cars are capable of those times.

Well, 4th run of the day, quickest yet. 14.69! Powershifting, as someone asked, to me is not letting off the gas when shift, to minimize boost loss and minimize lag. I'm running stock 16's with stock pressure (never checked it) I'll be scanning some slips tonight when i get home. My best 60 of the day is a 2.22... that was on th 3rd run, 14.73. Th 60 on the 14.69 was 2.24. I'm flabbergasted at this. I was expecting 15.4's or so... there was a 02 1.8t here yesterday running 15.6's so i was NOT expecting this. Neat....

And honestly, I do'nt think i NEED slicks... with my launches, i'm just gripping and going, no lag, no bog, no slip, no squeel, its just BOOM there... my Velocity CAI should be here next week so I think i'll make some runs with that. hopefully i can be in the 14.5's with that....
