Well, my Scirocco is spewed all over the garage (whoops!) so when I get that out of the garage would be ideal. I'm going to make you buy something large enough to catch all the coolant (big pan or something) and a bottle of Simple Green to clean things up

All I pull to do the H20 pump is: front and rear motor mount bolts, H20 pump pulley, serp belt, H20 pump.
I don't think we'll have to do the bumper.
You still have all those pain in the ass splash guards on don't you?

yup all those nifty splash guards
when did you have in mind? hope its not to far off... cars pushin 260 oil temps in normal driving and the coolant hits 230 after normal driving

Re: idiots guide to changing water pump... help me out (jininkan)

I wrote up a *detailed* guide to doing it last year.

Those instructions look intimidating but it's mainly just my verbosity.
It's not that hard of a DIY job, although it is a bit messy.
Also I've heard a few people have done it without removing the rear
motor mount bolts.. just loosening them up a bunch. I find the two long
socket extensions with the wobbly end on the bottom makes
the job of dealing with both rear motor mounts *sooooooo* much
easier.

Hey will that process work on a b3 vr6? I think I have to do it...
why do you have to lift the motor? is there not a way to get to it from underneath?
