I had posted about my rpm increasing by itself, my vacuum lines are all good. I strongly believe that the problem is the idle air control. Is this part repairable/serviceable ? I took off the hoses and looking thru the hole I see some black residues. I was thinking of spraying degreaser in there and let it soak for a while. Would this help? I really don't want to buy that part (210$can).

Not sure what kind of car you have, but I had the same symptoms and it was my O2 sensor. If you have a 99-00 there was a recall I'm sure you are aware of. Just my .02 cents.

it's a '93 golf, I also tought of of the O2 sensor but it didn't throw any codes a 1000 km ago.

i agree with you about the IAC. thats prettymuch the only thing that can only affect your idle and noting else. Try cleaning it with TB cleaner, that stuff does wonders.

Well, it could also be the throttle position sensor. If that goes bad, your idle will be crazy too
