awp(2001-2002) from a gti. The motor and alll assosiated emmissions are up and running. The motor is swapped into a 1987 Vanagon syncro. I have no faults and all readyness codes are set. Thanks for quik replys to my questions http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif .

That motor has ECU controlled idle speed. If it's as high as you say, there's something seriously wrong -- such as a substantial vacuum leak -- which must be fixed. It may have some adjustment in Adaptation Channel 01, but the adjustment range (if it's there at all) is normally something like +/- 50 rpm, IOW not enough to get the idle speed in spec.

I will check all possilble suspects tommarow. Wouldn't i get a check engine light for everyhting from a sm leak to a massive one though?

Could a sm boost leak lead to my symptoms?
