I got my Auto for 2 reasons. 1st the traffic on the 405, I've to go thru that everyday mon-sat
2nd, my gf can't drive stick
the sale person said you'll get used to the traffic, but he said teaching your gf how to drive a stick, forget it (that's totally HIS opinon hehehe)

Yeah of course. Once you drive a stick, you'll most likely never wanna go back to the boring days of automatics. Driving a stick in traffic is not bad at all...

If you get the 5 speed tiptronic, you'll have the opportunity to drive it as either an automatic or manual.
When in automatic mode, the gear selector reads:
PRND432
When in manual mode, it reads:
54321
A compromise for just the type of situation that you describe.

I used to drive 1000 miles a week.
Never once did i regret having a stick instead on an auto.

driving a tiptronic is nothing like driving a manual..
its driving an automatic that lets you choose when to upshift and downshift

I've got 4 years of Northern VA Traffic. About 3 hours a day to sit at a desk for 8 - 10 hours. I've never done it in an automatic. Does driving a stick in probably the nations worst traffic suck ? yeah pretty much. But it makes up for it when your not driving in heavy traffic. On a side note my brother just bought 2002 Passat GLX 4- Motion Variant and after diving that Tiptronic I have to say that its weird. Like driving a video game or something. Its a nice car to drive instead of my civic kind cool driving a car that feels like a Benz or a BMW but then right about that time you envision your diving some ticked out 3 series you look behind you and realize its a wagon and your like whoah WTF, like your getting busy with a model or something and then discover shes got some junk in the trunk

To go to high school, I drove 55 mins in the morning and 45 in the afternoon slow traffic, stoppes traffic, beltway, highway, etc. It was 30 miles each way, but I still drove a manual. I got an auto as my first car, but soon realized my mistake, begged my parents to sell it and found my car for sale by owner
