The inline fuse is installed within 12 or so inches of the battery . The idea is say that nice fat 4 gauge wire gets pinched somehow and grounds near the front seat far far away from the fuse block in the trunk. Well its gonna heat up the carpet real fast and start a nice fire, kiss your car goodbye. Having an inline fuse right by the battery means if this ever happens the fuse pops and disaster is avoided.

Since you forgot that...... ground both amps to one central point, make it as short as possible. Cheers !

yeah, that much i know.
lets see...
4 gauge power on one side, rca's on the other.
strip paint of grounding point.
use solder and crimp connex
any other tips i may have overlooked?

Another reason to install a fuse within 12" of the battery is because the closer the fuse is to the battery, the faster it will detect spikes in voltage or current. While we are talking miliseconds here, it's always a good idea to take the extra precaution.
