Hello, I have a 94 jetta 2.0 aba obd-1. The car has started to act up when it is raining or damp out. I suspected the ignition coil. Pulled it, it was cracked. Went to the local foreign auto parts store and the gave me a new huco coil. Took it back and it looks the same but my old one is covered in a metal case. The new one is more "open the the elements", all plastic with a metal base to bolt onto the firewall.
I think that this is an obd-2 coil. Will there be any damage to my ignition system of I use the new coil?

Thanks. Went ahead and replaced it. My new problem is the grounding strap that runs from the top of the engine to the ignition coil is now too short because of the mounting difference. Going to replace with 10 gauge wire. wish me luck.
